Why Art?
Art is a very real aspect to any designers work. Whether it is on a napkin scribbled at 3am, or a fully coloured work on canvas, or in a sketchbook; art is a form of expression. An artists poetry. Designing comes from somewhere, and for Andrea is started on paper and with a simple pencil.

In the beginning ...
There were art projects, drawings for classes and assignments. Some found great joy in drawing and exceeded in going above and beyond. Others, took their time to learn their skills. Andrea found her art-style when she was introduced to the world of Anime. A big Ah! Megamisama! (Oh My Goddess!) fan, she picked up more than just a few sketchbooks and pencils, but found her soul-mates of Art in her best friends Leanne and Jodi as together they challenged each others skills in both art and writing.

II. mediums
Pencil and Ink
Most drawings start with a basic HB pencil drawing and then is inked over for a more final look. Tools used include;

• Any .05mm or .07mm Staedtler or BIC Push-Pencil
• Variety of Derwent & Toison D'or Graphic Pencils
• 0.2, & 0.5 Staedtler Pigment Liners
• Variety of Pigment Micron Archival Ink Pens
• GellyRoll Glaze Pen (Black)*

Occasionally, a burst of inspiration comes from a single set of 2-3 colours that then bleed together to make something singularly beautiful. Using two unique brands, each provides its own style to each artwork.

photoshop
As technology advances in its usage of artwork, so has Andrea advanced in her use of colour, tools and her palette. Using Apple Software on her iMac, she has continued to produce a new variety to her work. Tools include:

• Adobe Photoshop CS 8.0 (Mac) & 9.0 (Vista)
• Corresponding versions of Adobe ImageReady
• Wacom 'graphire4' Tablet
